Surgical Technology Programs

A surgical technologist is an invaluable member of the operating room. Along with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists, surgical techs are part of the team that makes successful surgeries both safe and efficient. The day-to-day duties of a surgical technologist include assisting in all aspects of surgery, from sterilizing the operating room to administering patient care post-procedure. Depending on whether or not a student chooses to become nationally certified will affect the amount of salary they can expect to earn through work as a surgical tech. The numbers, however, are above average compared to other entry-level professions. The top 10% of surgical technologists earn over $52,000 a year, while entry-level and un-certified techs can earn around $30,000 after a few years of work and experience.
